Questions On Prayer To Reflect Upon
My guess is that each of us believes in prayer in theory, but it's hard to actually put it practice and live out in our daily lives and decisions..
As you know Hebrews 11 is a chapter on faith. Would you agree with me that one expression of faith would be prayer? The scriptures are clear that it is only through faith that we can please God. Assuming you do agree then the questions becomes is faith andprayer an essential relationship? Can you have faith and not pray? Can you pray but not have faith?
So what is the relationship between faith and prayer? Is it as clear to you as it is to me that there is an essential relationship between faith and prayer? If it is thenwhy don't we pray more?
Do you think it was easier for people in the past to pray for long periods? The studies reveal that we don't seem to pray as much in today's society. Did folks in the past simply trust God more?
Why do Christians find it hard to make and take time to pray? Some would say that extended, fervent prayer is unnecessary but what does God say?
In Hebrews we are urged to come boldly to God to find His grace and forgiveness for our sinfulness in our time of need.
Do you think that we sin less today and therefore need God less? Obviously not, just take a second, look around and get honest with yourself about your daily life and decisions.
No it is clear that no matter the situation in life, there is always a deep relationship between faith and prayer.
As you reflect on these questions do you find yourself aware that you don't pray enough and therefore your relationship with Jesus isn't all that it can and should be? All that it needs to be? All that you long and desire for it to be?
Are you interested in fixing that issue and having a daily relation with Jesus? A daily living relationship with a living Lord?
I think you know the answer! Just maybe we should allow the real life example of Jesus to challenge the way we think and live in the coming week.
